Stage three I’d say was largely uneventful in Tour terms. That bloke had a good go at getting the polka dot jersey but failed. A proper sprinter won, relegating the self proclaimed “hulk” ( I have an inherent dislike to people that give themselves a nickname, except of course The Dude in the big Lebowski) to second place for the second day. I do wonder if he will be third on the third day, but that’s a team TT, so probably not. A safe day for the favourites.
For ITV, an Interesting section on the benefits of aerodynamics from Chris and Ned and the effect of a second person sitting on your wheel. Particularly liked the definition of Ned as a “collection of tubes”. Seems new thinking is that sending a man up the road to sit in the break may not be a good thing – it could be helping out.
On the subject of aerodynamics, there are a load of fancy looking helmets this year. Chris Froome appears to be wearing a kask effort that when it gets really hot will surely fry his noggin!
The other offering from Specialized gets a review in triathlete Europe magazine Specialized Aero Helmet
Geraint Thomas – surely he can’t go on much longer. A crack in his hip must be agony.
Simon Gerrans – the second Orica Green Edge person to cross a finish line first (the bus driver was the first…….)
Peter “hulk”Sagan – close but no cigar. But he has a big lead already in the Green Jersey
