Here is day two of the blog and I have to admit that I got slightly carried away and drank too much on Sunday, then promptly fell asleep and missed the end of the highlights show last. (confession number two is that I watched two ITV highlights shows back to back as had written the day 1 blog off reading various news stories on the interweb) – almost sounds like I did proper research! I didn’t hack anyone’s phone though, so technically not proper journalism.
As with last year ITV is the highlights show of choice. I will be avidly looking out for Ned-ism’s Gary’s rather sarcastic comments and reporting back. Of course if you watch ITV highlights then you have no need to read this blog.
Stage two looked tricky on paper and the pre race discussion of would Cav be there to contest the sprint seemed a little ambitious to say the least. Rightly so as soon as the road went up, he dropped back to the safety of the bus.
Bravery certainly was the term for stage two. Tony Martin getting off the bus was a triumph, and Geraint Thomas confirming that his injuries were the most painful “when bending or pushing, pretty much like riding a bike”. Hard men of cycling.
A win for Jan Bakelants wasn’t predicted anywhere, so a big thumbs up for him.
Anyone riding with an injury
The little white dog near the finish that didn’t get wiped out
The Orica Green Edge team bus driver – missing all roadside furniture for once….
Me – pissed up and asleep missing the end of the show
Millar – doper turner crusader missed the jersey by 1 second. Shame, but the tour specialises in Tough shit.
